The J.C. Lewis Primary Health Care Center is seeking to add aDental Hygienist(DH) to our interdisciplinary clinical team.The Dental Hygienist supports the team by providing dental hygiene and preventative treatments, within the scope of practice.

Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited school of dental hygiene
• Dental Hygienist, licensed in the state of Georgia
• Prior experience in dental office or clinic
• Previous non profit experience preferred
• Ability to analyze medical records and prescribed protocol to formulate effective therapeutic treatment plans
• Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional regulations and guidelines for the provision of dental outpatient services
• Ability to independently assess the nature and extent of dental, periodontic, and associated conditions and pathology in dental outpatients
• Ability to perform a full range of established dental hygienist protocols and procedures.
• Knowledge of patient screening, charting, and medical history procedures and documentation.
• Ability to set up and prepare dental equipment and instrumentation in accordance with established regulations and guidelines.
• Knowledge of patient admission, triage, transfer, and discharge procedures and documentation
• Basic knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite, with any additional computer skills a plus
• Ability to establish and maintain professional relationship with patients
• Good oral and written communication skills

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assesses dental condition and needs of patient; uses patient screening procedures, to include medical history review, dental charting, and perio charting
• Documents dental history or chief complaint; records and reports pertinent observations and patient reactions to dental staff, as appropriate; documents lab procedur4es and ensures follow up on results
• Completes data entry for all procedures performed, maintains patient records and performance reports
• Delivers direct patient care to patients by performing dental prophylaxis, periodontal therapy, and application of topical fluorides, placement of dental sealants
• Operates radiographic equipment to obtain dental radiographs of patients
• Provides chair-side assistance to dentist in the performance of special tests, procedures, and complex treatments
• Makes impressions of patients teeth for study cast
• Follows all safety/risk management practices in performing duties
• Prepares and maintains dental operatory and instruments
• Assists in preparation of patient care areas, and in the patient admission, transfer, and discharge process as required; prepares reports and assists as required with patient reception , telephone calls, routine triage, and other duties

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs clerical duties and completes reports as assigned
• Participates in the supervision of student interns
• Maintain licensure, to include the procurement of appropriate CMEs
• Participate in agency meetings, in-service trainings and workshops as deemed appropriate
• All other duties as assigned
