J. C. Lewis Primary Health Care Center is a federally qualified community health center which exists to provide patient-centered primary health care services to the medically underserved residents of the greater Savannah-Chatham County, Georgia community. The Health Center makes comprehensive primary care, integrated behavioral health care, oral health care, and inpatient respite care services available to all persons, including the homeless and low-income uninsured and underinsured, regardless of ability to pay. The J.C. Lewis Primary Health Care Center excels in the provision of compassionate care and promotes healing through healthy living. The Staff Dentist functions as an active member of the dental team. The Dental Assistant supports the team by assisting in the performance of dental and radiographic procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Current valid unrestricted State of Georgia Dental license
  • Ability to be adequately covered by dental malpractice insurance
  • Maintains current CPR certification; ACLS preferred
  • Medicaid provider number
  • Transportation and valid Georgia drivers license
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and professional skills
  • Physically able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to provide training and educational seminars/sessions
  • Working knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of dental and oral diseases.
  • Working knowledge of the principles, standard practice methods and techniques of dentistry.
  • Working knowledge of preventative dentistry and educational methodologies utilized in prevention.
  • Skilled in oral operative techniques and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional regulations and guidelines for the provision of dental outpatient services.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with the dental/medical community
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationship with patients
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Non-profit or public health experience preferred

  • Diagnosis
  • Pedodontics
  • Preventative Dentistry
  • Periodontics
  • Prosthodontics
  • Endodontics
  • Orthodontics
  • Participate in appropriate health screening services
  • Help provide in-house dental training.
  • To provide expert consultation to primary care staff.
