Accounts Receivable and Payable Accountant

America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia, headquartered in Savannah, GA serves as the food safety net for tens of thousands of children, senior citizens, low-income families, and people with disabilities that are at-risk for hunger throughout southeastern Georgia. We partner with over 300 churches and non-profit agencies to provide emergency food assistance across Coastal Georgia in twenty-one counties. Last year, Second Harvest provided more than 15 million pounds of food to hungry people in our 21 county service area through a variety of programs. 

Second Harvest currently has a position open for an Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Accountant. This is a full time, permanent position with a starting pay range of $30,000-$35,000 plus benefits based at 2501 East President Street in Savannah.

This position will be responsible for recording incoming payments and donations, processing bills, as well as providing specialized support to our Kids Cafe and Summer Feeding programs.  Kids Cafe and Summer Feeding provide free meals and snacks to low-income children through a variety of community locations where children already congregate—such as Boys & Girls Clubs, churches and public schools.

JOB DUTIES:

Record agency payments, and accurately apply them against agency accounts
Record donations in the general ledger
Generate customer statements and review agency accounts for accuracy and compliance
Capture and record all expenses from government reimbursement program
Develop and monitor program budget
Upload budget data and support to grantor website
Work with the Program Manager to evaluate program compliance and effectiveness, develop annual proposals for improvement and achievement
Maintain and compile all files and reports (paper and electronic) for program compliance
Conduct analysis of programs to determine viability, cost-savings measures and outcomes
Act as resource to CFO in development of budgets, analysis and other financial issues
Other duties as assigned by supervisors

Requirements:

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with at least 2 years of practical experience in finance, budgeting and accounting duties, or a combination of education and experience requirements.

Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational abilities and strong attention to detail. 

Criminal history background check and employment reference check required.
