Childhood Hunger Outreach Coordinator
America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia, headquartered in Savannah, GA serves as the food safety net for tens of thousands of children, senior citizens, low-income families, and people with disabilities that are at-risk for hunger throughout southeastern Georgia. We partner with over 275 faith based organizations and non-profit agencies to provide emergency food assistance across Coastal Georgia in twenty-one counties. Last year, Second Harvest provided more than 13 million pounds of food to hungry people in our 21 county service area through a variety of programs. We are currently hiring for the following full time, exempt position: Childhood Hunger Outreach Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Director
Essential Functions and Basic Duties:
The Childhood Hunger Outreach Coordinator will work in the Kids Café, Summer Feeding and Backpack programs’ department to increase partner relationships and the distribution of food for low-income children. This position requires occasional evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Identify locations and organizations that may be able to support a Kids Café and/or Summer Feeding sites.
- Recruitment of new Kids Cafe and Summer Feeding site
- Conduct gap analysis to determine areas of need for weekend backpack programs.
- Recruitment of partners for backpack programs.
- Develop relationships with existing sites to provide ongoing customer service support
Job Specifications/Requirements
- Previous experience with business development, sales and customer service with increasing responsibility is required.
- Able to work independently and to handle multiple priorities under minimal supervision and complete reports by appropriate dates. Managing multiple tasks and changing priorities required.
- Must be able to understand instructions and effectively demonstrate quality results. Position requires a high-degree of professionalism and trustworthiness.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with internal and external audiences are required.
- Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with staff and from all areas of the organization is necessary.
- Strong customer service ethic is required.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s degree or experience in a related field.
- Financial management and budgeting experience.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment with multifaceted demands. Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills. Proven ability to successfully handle multiple projects and meet critical deadlines.
- Personal leadership skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Strong project management skills.
