KEY ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The Deckhand/Mate delivers safe and courteous service to the public. Requests passenger compliance to safety issues with courtesy. Handles lines to moor vessel to wharves, sweeps/washes deck, stands steering and lockout watches while underway. Moves controls or turns hand-wheels to raise or lower passenger ramps. Simple maintenance of motor and minor repairs to docks/ferryboat. Splices and repairs cable/ropes.

Qualifications:

Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Required frequent walking or sitting and must be capable of occasionally lifting and/or moving between-50 – 80 lbs. Requires close, distance and color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and moderate noise level. Must be able to pass a drug test, DOT physical and a criminal background check.

Education Level:

High School equivalency. Knowledge of procedures in loading and unloading a ferry, preferred. General knowledge of US Coast Guard regulations. Must be able to speak effectively with passengers, the general public and before groups of customers/public in a positive and courteous manner.

Schedule:

Part-time; Work hours scheduled between 6:30 a.m. – 12 a.m. and be available to work weekdays, weekends and holidays as needed.

Pay Rate:

$11.20/hr.
