Development Manager

JOB TITLE: Development Manager

REPORTS TO: President/CEO

JOB SUMMARY: This middle management position is responsible for grants research/writing; special event fundraising; planned giving and major donor research and cultivation. Some data entry, to include maintenance of donor files, is required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research, develop and write grant proposals;
Working with museum trustees, staff and community leaders to develop and implement museums special-event fundraising programs;
Engage in the ongoing development and implementation of museums planned-giving program;
Work closely with the President/CEO on major gifts research, cultivation and stewardship;
Record contributions in the museums donor data base;
Prepare reports for Director of Finance and CEO;
Develop and manage Development Departments annual operating budget; and
Perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
B.A. in non-profit management, museum studies, public history, history or related subject;
Minimum of two years in development work with a museum or cultural organization;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Experience with fundraising software and Microsoft Office Suite;
Able to excel in the workplace with minimal supervision.
