Inventory Coordinator

America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia, headquartered in Savannah, GA serves as the food safety net for tens of thousands of children, senior citizens, low-income families, and people with disabilities that are at-risk for hunger throughout southeastern Georgia.  We partner with over 275 churches and non-profit agencies to provide emergency food assistance across Coastal Georgia in twenty-one counties.  Last year, Second Harvest provided more than 14.5 million pounds of food to hungry people in our 21 county service area through a variety of programs.  We are currently hiring for the following position:

Job Title: Inventory Coordinator
Classification: Non-exempt
Reports To: Chief Operations Officer

SUMMARY:

As a member of the Operations Team, the Inventory Coordinator is responsible for superior inventory control of Second Harvest’s four major food programs: Donated, Purchased, Georgia Nutrition Assistance Program and USDA Commodities.   This is a full time position that requires approximately one Saturday per month.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain food donor and inventory database; reviews data for completeness, accurately enters data into computer information system; may conduct audit of data to ensure integrity of data base.
Maintains up to date knowledge of Second Harvest’s products and programs in order to accurately match bill of lading with receiving forms verifying counts.
Accurately and in a timely manner prepares filings for all food programs including food receipts and related documentation to Feeding America, America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia and any other regulatory agency.
Insure inventory accuracy of receiving and delivery processes.
Enters data to maintain inventory data base for various programs including food drives, local donors, individual donations and logs; maintains hard copy documentation files to ensure proper record keeping.
Assist in reconciling inventory for all food programs to include counting, data preparation, troubleshooting and report management
Assist with pulling orders and other warehouse duties.
May perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

At least five years inventory control experience preferably in a food related industry.
Verifiable experience working in a inventory database system.
Must be able to orally communicate and write in English at a level that is reflective of someone at this level of responsibility.
Advanced computer literacy and the ability to learn new technology at a fast pace
High level of personal and professional integrity is essential.
Valid U.S. driver’s license
Certified or the ability to become certified in food safety and knowledgeable of safety and regulatory compliance issues 
Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and opinions
High school diploma required with college degree preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Warehouse environment; extensive computer and phone work, some driving, walking, standing, bending, stooping kneeling, lifting and carrying items weighing in excess of 30 pounds; regular contact with volunteers and agencies; periodically works extended hours.

Rate of pay is based on experience but starts at $16 per hour. This position is also eligible for benefits including medical, dental and vision insurance, company paid life and disability insurance and a company matched retirement account.
