Operations Manager

     

Purpose: Responsible for the daily production operations of the plant under the direction of the Production Manager and/or Plant Manager.  Responsible for monitoring operations for efficiency and safety while ensuring all applicable regulatory requirements are met.

JOB SPECIFICATION:

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Packaging or related field preferred. A minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience and 4 years’ manufacturing experience in food industry.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to communicate, receive, and transfer written and oral information effectively. Ability to read, write and speak English fluently. Ability to work under stressful conditions. Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service, team building, managerial and interpersonal skills. Ability to pay attention to details and must have strong logical reasoning skills. Working knowledge of SOPs, FDA, HACCP and GMP.

Working Conditions: Fast paced warehouse environment working in and around machinery and moving vehicles. The noise level is moderate to loud with temperatures in the processing area are below 50 degrees. The cold storage warehouse averages a temperature of -5 degrees.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods of time, ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs. Ability to climb. Ability to wear required safety clothing and equipment. Ability to hear in a moderate to noisy working environment and respond accordingly.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure compliance with GMP, Food Safety & Quality, SOPs, HACCP and human safety programs through the training, development, performance management and coaching of shift team members

  • Monitor product quality and production operations to meet customer expectations

  • Lead change initiatives through continuous improvement

  • Review and report daily achievement of targets for operation review meetings

  • Drive results in areas of production to include but not limited to reliability, labor management, material flow control, and reduction of material loss by streamlining processes and suggesting and implementing cost saving ideas

  • Ensure security of facilities during designated shift

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with OSHA Standards by enforcing all safety procedures

  • Attends and participates in all required shift and safety meetings

  • Train new employees and coach existing employees by communicating clear and concise performance expectations and conflict resolution

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of and complies with all GMP, SOPs, HACCP, SQF, Food Safety & Quality, Allergen Control and AIB programs and policies

  • Promote food safety polices by reporting safety hazards to supervisor immediately

  • Complies with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements

  • Develop mid-term and long-term maintenance strategies that support a rapid growth

  • Other relevant duties as assigned
