Public Relations and Marketing Manager

  • The Savannah Convention Center is currently looking for an experienced Public Relations and Marketing Manager to join our family! Be a part of our team of the 330,000 square foot Savannah Convention Center located directly across from historic Savannah and on the Savannah River. The Public Relations and Marketing Manager position reports to the Director of Sales, Marketing and Event Services. 



    • Write and distribute press releases, media advisors, pitches and newsletter articles 
    • Responsible for website content – updates and revisions through submission of information to appropriate webmasters. Ensures 
    • Content is timely, accurate and event related information is current 
    • Work closely with the sales team on program development and
    • Create and execute lead generation programs 
    • Analyze data to determine campaign efficiency 
    • Ensure marketing materials undergo regular review and adhere to brand guidelines 
    • Create, publish and schedule content posts for social media channels including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and others TBD. 
    • Maintain up-to-date press and sales kits. 
    • Develop e-newsletter to distribute every two weeks for upcoming events 
    • Provides support for projects such as annual report, monthly board
      meetings, marketing materials 
    • Maintain historical and photography files 
    • Support overall PR efforts and perform related duties 
    • Oversee building art project and organize two art showcase events per year 
    • Oversee branding/advertising as it relates to clients. Meet with clients on branding/advertising/sponsorship opportunities. 
    • Oversee client gift basket distribution 
    • Oversee customer and exhibitor survey program 
    • Develops sales presentations and reports based on information collected such as marketing trends, competition, products and pricing 
    • Responsible for Search Engine Optimization and Google Analytics providing regular reports to DOSME 
    • Responsible for messages, sponsors, monthly calendar and all other materials assigned to Janus Displays and Monitors 
    • Assist DOSME on marketing projects as needed: signage, photo shoot, annual report and any other related marketing projects 
    • Assist sales department with special activities such as Familiarization Tours, Chef’s Table, Catering Blitz 
    • Explore free listings opportunities 
    • Maintain up-to-date media and hospitality lists. 
    • Maintain clippings from all press articles and advertising 
    • Actively pursue industry-related awards 
    • Other projects as assigned by the DOSME 
    • May be required to work flexible schedule including events and weekends in addition to working normal business hours 
    • Perform normal office-related functions in standard office setting 
    • Not substantially exposed to adverse conditions 
    • Manage time in an environment where priorities change quickly 
    • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
    • Excellent analytical and presentation skills 
    • Excellent time management and communication skills, both written and verbal 
    • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office programs 
    • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, collaborative environment 
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and to manage workload using own initiative 
    • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure with limited resources 
    • High degree of integrity and compliance 
    • Thoroughness in task approach, follow-up & completion
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising or related discipline 
    • Minimum of three (3) years marketing experience, preferably in
      convention, hospitality, multi-purpose or service organization 
    • Experience may serve as a substitute for education based on two (2) years’ experience for one (1) year of experience
