SUMMARY: The Admission Nurse uses experience, knowledge, judgment and skills to evaluate referrals for appropriate admission to Hospice Savannah. The Admission Nurse is committed to the philosophy, goals and objectives of hospice concept while consistently demonstrating the Hospice Savannah values.
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing, RN required with a current GA Nursing License. Hospice or Oncology certification preferred. Current CPR certification, Georgia Drivers License, and Current Automobile Insurance and reliable transportation required. Ability to successfully interact with patients, families, physicians and the community. Excellent assessment and documentation skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position requires moderate visual concentration for patient charting/documentation. Position carries a risk of exposure to infectious diseases requiring standard safety precautions. The Admissions Nurse requires the mobility to ambulate or lift a patient with or without the assistance of devices in excess of 75 lbs. utilizing proper lifting techniques.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position generally works Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:30am-5:00pm, as needed to facilitate evenings or weekend admissions. Hours may vary with this position to include emergency/supportive home visits as needed depending on the referral activity. This position requires a considerable amount of driving utilizing the employee’s personal vehicle.
