Director, Residential Services for Human Trafficking Shelter, Girls ages 11-17

Tharros Place is developing a 12-bed residential facility for survivors of human trafficking, girls ages 11-17, anticipated to open Summer 2023.

In collaboration with the Executive Director, the Director initially will be responsible for setting up the residential program and facility, including building a team of approximately 25 employees, training, licensing, data and record management, developing policies, procedures, and curriculum, and overseeing the renovation and furnishing of the facility. Once open, the Directors responsibilities will shift to the operation and management of the residential facility and its team.

The Director provides leadership, oversight, and supervision of the staff, volunteers, participants, and facilities for the program. This position is responsible for high-quality program design, implementation, and results to meet organizational goals and individual participant goals, so that participants may benefit from all services provided including therapy, medical care, education, and life skills training.


  • Fully licensed as an LPC, LMFT, or LCSW with active unrestricted license in Georgia, preferred
  • Minimum five years of experience in the field of social services and three years of experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity
  • Experience providing services to youth or young adults, specifically those who are survivors of complex trauma
  • Working knowledge of DFCS RBWO state licensure requirements for childcare programs preferred
  • Administrative, organizational, and computer skills including use of email and GSuite, Microsoft Office
  • Never have been shown by credible evidence (e.g., a court or jury, a department investigation, or other reliable evidence) to have abused, neglected, sexually exploited, or deprived a child or adult or to have subjected any person to serious injury as a result of intentional or grossly serious injury as a result of intentional or grossly negligent misconduct as evidenced by an oral or written statement to this effect obtained at the time of application and evidence of having made efforts to obtain and evaluate references from previous employers
  • Documentation of references (two professional and one personal) that attest to the persons capability to perform the duties of the position and suitability of working with or around children and vulnerable populations
  • Willingness to pursue and participate in continuing education to stay up to date on best practices and regulatory compliance requirements

Essential Job Responsibilities

Overall Vision and Mission:

  • Own and develop the clinical and operational vision for all residential program services
  • Develop the organizational continuum of care in partnership with Senior Leadership and Clinical Team


  • Build and maintain a healthy, trusting, cohesive team that works together well to accomplish the mission of the program
  • Provide reliable, effective leadership, supervision, and management for program staff, including weekly staff meetings, regular staff evaluations, assessment for training needs, and coordination of annual training
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with all stakeholders, both internal and external, including developing regular meetings and collaboration with local and state stakeholders
  • Serve as a therapist as needed for participants
  • Ensure the quality development of individual service plans by the Human Service Professional
  • Create and maintain staff and program schedules
  • Lead clinical meetings and supervise Electronic Health Records
  • Maintain compliance with program budget
  • Ensure the implementation of program policies and procedures are routinely followed, including but not limited to: recordkeeping, intake procedures, health and safety, clinical services, educational plans and progress, training, and emergency preparedness
  • Positively represent Tharros Place in a variety of arenas including tours, development, fundraising activities, speaking opportunities, and events
  • Serve as a resource for the development and fundraising, especially in the grant writing process, as needed

Program Structure

  • Supervise all program operations including but not limited to programming, performance, industry compliance/licensure regulations, and contributing to staff hires
  • Assume lead responsibility in maintaining compliance with OPM, RCCL, DFCS, DJJ, and DMST quality standards and guidelines; submit written reports and maintain KPIs as requested for each respective agency
  • Responsible and accountable for tracking and reporting quality metrics and key performance indicators as indicated by executive leadership and required by grants and funders
  • Responsible for designing corrective measure protocol in response to deficits in quality metrics and KPIs
  • Define, implement, evaluate, and refine program curriculum, policies, and procedures; revise and implement change management as needed
  • Utilize a strength-based, trauma-informed approach as the key pillar to the program
  • Provide care to program participants without regard to race, gender, ethnicity, religious or spiritual beliefs
  • Provide culturally competent care for participants wondering about their sexuality or gender identity, including those who may identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender-variant, or those who have questions
