Director of Meetings and Special Events
The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force is looking to fill the full-time position Director of Meetings and Special Events
Job summary
Oversee all aspects of the Events department to include room rental, customer service, marketing, preparing department budget and personnel management
Duties and responsibilities
Lead and manage all operations of the events department
Hire, train, schedule and manage all events staff
Actively sell and book Museum facilities
Negotiating and managing all rental and booking contracts
Meet with clients to coordinate event details
Manage onsite events and oversee bar operations
Book adult group tours that require room rental/catering services
Acting as official liaison between internal staff, vendors and clients
Participate in marketing the museums events and facilities
Create annual budget for the events department
Set annual rates for rentals and update event policies and procedures as needed
Coordinate museums annual gala
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
BA in business, events management or related field
Minimum of three years experience in events management, preferably with managerial responsibilities
Strong attention to detail and strong computer and organizational skills
Excellent customer service and people skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to work well with others in a team situation
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Physical requirements
Standing for long periods while on site at events
Work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays
