Medical Assistant Lady's Island South Carolina

Our client, a Nephrology & Hypertension Medical Pratice,  is seeking a “hands on” MA to assist during a maternity leave in their Lady’s Island South Carolina office. This CAN turn into a fulltime position for the right person. 

The pratice is a full service, privately owned and operated practice based in historic Savannah, Georgia. Their focus and specialty are diagnosing and treating patients with kidney related diseases and hypertension.  The team at the pratice dedicate their lives providing their patients and their families with the finest of care as we seek to enhance health and improve the quality of life for those we serve.  

The hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. 

Primary Responsibilities

1.Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include  organizing patient flow to assure that patients are in exam rooms in a timely manner for providers; assisting patients as needed with walking, transferring and dressing. 

2.Collects patient histories, obtaining vital signs as well as a current medication lists

3.Provides patient education as needed and directed by physician or nurse practitioner 

4.Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include:  obtaining lab/x-ray reports prior to patient visit and prepping the chart accordingly; managing charts to ensure information/orders are completed prior to patient visit to assist physician in quality patient care.

5.Handles prescription refills as requested by the physician, pharmacy or patient

6.Coordinates physician schedules including but not limited to:  Patient appointments, blocked times, re-scheduling as appropriate and contacting patients regarding a change in their appointment

7.Performs follow up with patients regarding test results in a timely manner to assure quality patient care and patient satisfaction

8.Maintains an accurate hospital list for his/her assigned physician(s)

9.Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned which may include:  cleaning exam rooms after each patient to maintain infection control standards; restocking exam rooms on a daily basis and maintaining medication rooms 

10.Fulfills organizational responsibilities such as:  respecting/promoting patient rights and confidentiality; conveys a positive and professional image of the practice at all times; adheres to practice policies and procedures

11.Attends meetings and in-service programs as requested

12.Meets with pharmaceutical representatives as needed

Qualifications 

1.Graduate from an accredited MA program. 

2.Valid professional license for the State of South Carolina 

3.Minimum of one year of medical practice experience required.

4.Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for his/her own actions

5.Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity about the rights of patients and their families

6.Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of daily activities

7.Promotes professionalism through role modeling as evidenced by his/her image, behavior, reliability, and flexibility
